Photosynthesis (2014)

Description

Through the process of photosynthesis, plants and algae produce oxygen while converting our waste—carbon dioxide—into food and energy.

Leaf cells are equipped with chlorophyll molecules that pass each photon (light particle) to a reaction center. Using the photon’s energy, the chlorophyll sets a chain of events into motion that results in a molecule of oxygen being released into the atmosphere.

The average leaf absorbs more than 10,000,000,000,000,000 photons per second!
